Canetamburo is a multimedia trio formed by Elia Dell’Orco, Eugenio Cecchini, and Gabriele Teti. The Rome based group operates at the convergence of electroacoustic improvisation, live performance, and experimental sound art. After years of collaboration within the CreaK/Lab collective, the trio built on that foundation to develop an independent and more focused artistic
trajectory.
After aquireing formal knowledge in acousmatic and electroacoustic music and years of composing in these traditions the trio came together to practice a new way of making music, favoring a real-time, collective construction of sound grounded in improvisation, gesture, and listening.
Their sonic world moves fluidly between contemporary music languages and the debris of internet culture which they see as a fertile ground for the future of electroacoustic music. Within that space, academic research and so-called “non-academic” music often meet, producing surprising and compelling hybrids. A timbre-rooted sensibility in texture-based sound walls meets the shattered rhythms of extreme computer music, blended with post-rock inflections and open dialogue of free impro.
